Reminders / Notes

The Board Office will be closed Monday May 30, 2016 in observance of Memorial Day

"Legislative bills filed to amend Louisiana Massage Therapists and Establishments Act"

One of the goals of the Board is to keep licensees and the general public apprised on matters that might affect those individuals or businesses that are engaged in the practice of Massage Therapy. Please click on the "Louisiana Law" tab to view additional information and a link to the bills submitted.

Courtesy Reminder....You may renew your license during renewal season - January 1st - March 31st each year.  Please make every effort to renew your license on time to avoid the late fee. If you do not have a current license (expiration date of 03/31/2016) and you renew during renewal season, your license will expire 03/31/2016; therefore, you will need to renew again prior to that date to avoid a late fee and maintain a current license.

While we make every effort to review all license applications in a timely manner, you may not have a valid license for April 1st if you wait until the end of renewal season to renew your license due to the volume of applications received.  Therefore, please apply early to remain in compliance with the law.

Please verify your CE Certificate contains all information as specified in LAC, Title 46, Part XLIV, Chapter 37, 3703 (C) (2) to avoid application denial.  To avoid a late fee, applications must be approved prior to March 31st.

The expiration date for all Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy licenses is March 31st each year.

You may find this information in LAC, Title 46, Part XLIV, Chapter 17, 1701 (B) ("Louisiana Law" tab, Rules).  Please review all information in the Practice Act and Rules for all changes.  It is important for all Massage Therapists to be aware of all laws that govern the profession.

Notes:  All applications (renewal and new) must be dated within 30 days of LBMT Office receipt.  Applications dated prior to 30 days of receipt will be returned to the applicant unprocessed.

When submitting online applications, an email confirmation will be received at the email address listed on your account.  If you do not receive an email, the application was not received for processing.  Please contact the office if you have questions.

First-Year professional licensees - When renewing online, you must attach a document stating "First year of licensure - no CEs required" in the area where CEs are required on the application.

Continuing Education for 2016 renewal must be taken 04/01/2015 - 03/31/2016.  If you have questions, please contact the office.

LBMT takes its role of public protection seriously; but, can only act within its authority as a regulatory board.  If you feel an establishment or a therapist is violating the LMT Practice Act you may file a complaint on our website or with the local authorities.  We as a board will not file a complaint with the local law enforcement; but, encourage you to do so if you desire criminal prosecution.
